Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter was one of the first titles that actually looked and played like a next-gen game. Its squad-based combat offered a higher level of strategy than your average shooter and its focus on urban combat made for some very intense fire-fights. Plus the Mexican backdrop offered some of the most impressive visuals we’d seen up to that point. To make the pot even sweeter, GRAW included an incredibly thorough online experience with a multitude of modes, including co-op missions. After several DLC mappacks, Ubisoft felt it was finally time to release an official sequel to GRAW in order to follow the continued adventures of Capt. Mitchell. The difference this time around was that the game would also be coming to Sony’s Playstation 3.

Like the previous game you’ll seamlessly be whisked away from mission to mission via helicopter. These in-engine first-person cut-scenes do an awesome job of setting the stage for the upcoming job by giving you pertinent target and environmental information. At the same time they keep you immersed in the game’s fiction.

Speaking of the game’s fiction, GRAW2 takes place immediately after your actions in the first game. In fact, Capt. Mitchell is literally on his way home when he gets the call to return back to Mexico. It turns out that your little coo from the previous game caused a lot of negative reactions from militia in the area. In other words, your actions basically stirred up a hornet’s nest. To make matters worse, the Mexican rebels in question seemed to have gotten their mitts on a couple of nuclear weapons.

Fortunately the Ghost Recon squad is as well equipped as they are trained. In GRAW2 you’ll have access to not only the most advanced weapons, but also unmanned vehicles, giving you as much of a tactical advantage as you need to take care of business. The new major addition to GRAW2 is the M.U.L.E., which is an unmanned ATV-like vehicle loaded with gear (guns and ammo.) It can also be used as movable cover, but it does take damage so you’ll have to use it sparingly. Other than the M.U.L.E., the UAV also makes its return. You’ll also have tanks and artillery strikes at your command at various times throughout the game, both of which are incredibly deadly.
